Our Cabedge Design team was joined by a special guest for an Atiba University presentation on September 17. Nashville Photographer Kerry Woo, an extremely fun, talented, and motivational individual, presented both the “Geek” and “Human” perspective of how photography plays a huge role in building an effective web presence.

Kerry has a great feel for how quality photography can lead an organic and viral marketing strategy or campaign. He spoke about an example of a blog he wrote with photos about a dog named Thunder, whom he found. Thunder was adopted by a family in Austin, TX, after the family gravitated towards the blog posts he wrote and pictures he posted about Thunder.

Photos and images about compelling charitable efforts after Hurricane Katrina, and other community events shaped his presentation.

Woo spoke about how all moments in business and life can and should be captured, and what makes the most effective photos from a marketing perspective online.

On the geek side, solid information was shared about optimizing photos for social and search. Woo shared a great example of how to post images on Flickr, how to properly tag to help interested suitors and business partners find you. Don’t worry, if you missed it, there is likely to be a follow-up on this topic in the coming months, and below are a few useful tips he shared, as well as some video clips from the event.

Top Tools Kerry Recommends:

  • Dropbox for group sharing.
  • Flickr for sharing and storage (offering a Terabyte for free now).
  • Zenfolio for sharing with clients ($100/year subscription).

Woo was also recently featured on Nashtag.me; we encourage you to check out that piece. He truly understands branding, and how to represent your brand via quality images.
